Characteristics and Applications

IK-1FG is a special grade iodonium salt type photoacid generator only available from us.
Combined with a sensitizer, it can handle longer wavelengths.
The anion structure is a special anion (FG) of our proprietary design, which exhibits high cationic polymerization. It also has excellent low metal corrosion of cured materials and low coloration when heated at high temperatures.
It can also be used as a high-temperature type thermal acid generator.
IK-1FG is a non-solvent type powder product.

IK-1FG Structure
  • Differences from sulfonium salt types
    The iodonium salt type has relatively poor storage stability when compounded with a cationically polymerizable resin compared to the sulfonium salt type, but a large sensitizer effect can be expected when used in combination with a sensitizer.
  • Absorption Wavelengths without a Sensitizer
    According to the result in acetonitrile solution, there is an absorption wavelength up to about 300 nm.
  • Recommended sensitizers
    Anthracene-based sensitizers such as dibutoxyanthracene (DBA) and thioxanthone-based sensitizers such as isopropylthioxanthone (IPTX) can be expected to have a large sensitizing effect.
  • Polymerization initiation temperature
    When blended with bisphenol A type glycidyl ether, polymerization starts at 140 °C.
  • Characteristics of FG (special anion)
    It has high acid strength and reactivity equivalent to HSbF6. In addition, corrosion of peripheral members and coloring during heat curing can be suppressed.
  • Regarding different types of acids generated
    There is IK-1 which is a PF3(C2F5)3 anion.

  • Recommended amount of additive
    Add about 0.5 to 1 wt% to the resin, depending on the application and film thickness.
