Characteristics and Applications

IK-1 is a special grade iodonium salt type photoacid generator only available from us. Combined with a sensitizer, it can handle longer wavelengths. The anionic structure is a special phosphorus system of our own design, which exhibits high cationic polymerization. It also has excellent solubility in various solvents and monomers, including non-polar organic solvents. It can also be used as a high-temperature type thermal acid generator. IK-1 is a non-solvent type powder product.

 IK-1 Structure
  • Differences from sulfonium salt types
    The iodonium salt type has relatively poor storage stability when compounded with a cationically polymerizable resin compared to the sulfonium salt type, but a large sensitizer effect can be expected when used in combination with a sensitizer.
  • Absorption Wavelengths without a Sensitizer
    According to the result in acetonitrile solution, there is an absorption wavelength up to about 300 nm.
  • Polymerization initiation temperature
    When blended with bisphenol A glycidyl ether, polymerization starts at 210°C.
  • Characteristics of PF3(C2F5)3 anion
    Although non-Sb-based, it has acid strength equivalent to HSbF6 and exhibits high cationic polymerization. Acid generators with this anion also have excellent solubility in a variety of solvents and monomers, including non-polar organic solvents.
  • Regarding different types of acids generated
    We have an FG anion, IK-1FG.
    We have experience in the development of other anions as well, so please feel free to contact us if you are interested in any anions.
  • Recommended amount of additive
    Add about 0.5 to 1 wt% to the resin, depending on the application and film thickness.
