AA-01Thermal acid generator (thermal cationic polymerization initiator), ammonium

Characteristics and Applications

AA-01 is a highly active heat-activated acid generator of the ammonium salt type. Because it uses a borate anion, it is non-Sb, but it has the same acid strength as SbF6 anion products and shows high cation polymerization. It also has excellent low metal corrosion of the cured product.

AA-01 Structure
  • Polymerization initiation temperature
    When combined with bisphenol A glycidyl ether, polymerization begins at 100℃, and when combined with alicyclic epoxy, polymerization begins at 74℃.
  • Characteristics of the generated acid [HB(C6F5)4]
    It has a high acid strength and is as reactive as HSbF6. It also prevents corrosion of surrounding metal parts because it is not easily hydrolyzed and does not easily produce hydrofluoric acid.
  • Recommended amount of additive
    Add 0.5 to 1 wt% to the resin, depending on the application, film thickness, and temperature.
